The Garage Sale Hub

The Garage Sale Hub is a specialized dashboard designed to streamline the exciting chaotic process of liquidating unwanted household belongings.

Crucially, selling an item through this hub does not destroy its historical documentation. Your database will retain a permanent record of the item and its sale price for tax, insurance, or general household accounting.

1. Marking Items For Sale

You can flag any item in your inventory for the garage sale directly from its everyday detail view.

  1. Click on any item (e.g., from the main Dashboard or the All Items list) to open its detail window.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the form to find the 🏷️ Garage Sale Status section.
  3. Turn on the toggle switch that says List for Sale.
  4. Enter your desired Asking Price in the input field that appears. This is the price you want to sell it for.
  5. Click Save.

The item will now prominently display a bright orange "For Sale" badge across all your normal dashboard views, so you never forget what is actively listed.

2. AI Pricing Assistance

Determining the right price for secondhand goods can be tedious. StowFindSell uses contextual Artificial Intelligence to suggest optimal garage sale pricing for you!

  1. When adding or editing an item, make sure you have uploaded a clear photo of it. (Also, ensure you have set your Household Zip Code in the main Settings panel so the AI understands your local economy!)
  2. Click the Scan Image with AI button.
  3. The system will instantly identify the object, estimate its original brand-new retail value, and calculate a realistic localized "Garage Sale Listing Price". This is typically 10% to 20% of the retail price, automatically adjusted for the purchasing power of your specific zip code!
  4. If you agree with the AI's math, simply click the prompt to automatically apply this suggested price and list the item for sale in one click.

3. Using the Garage Sale Dashboard

At the top of your screen in the main navigation bar, click Garage Sale to access the centralized hub.

This dashboard provides a powerful, high-level overview of your entire liquidation effort using four key metrics:

  • Active Listings: The number of items you are currently trying to sell.
  • Total Asking Value: The cumulative potential cash you will make if everything sells for its exact listed price.
  • Items Sold: The number of items you have successfully liquidated today.
  • Total Revenue: The actual hard cash you have made so far.

The page itself is divided into three main tabs so you can manage the chaos:

The "For Sale" Tab (Active Listings)

This tab lists all your active listings. It is designed for rapid, on-the-fly referencing during a busy garage sale, estate sale, or Facebook Marketplace negotiation.

  • View Detail: Click anywhere on a row to instantly open the item's full details. This is incredibly useful if you need to quickly verify a serial number, look up its purchase history, or check its condition grade to prove its worth to a buyer.
  • Edit Asking Price: Do you need to drop the price because it's the end of the day? Click the Asking Price text on any row to edit the value instantly without opening a heavy form. Hit the Enter key on your keyboard to save it.

Marking an Item "Sold" (Closing the Deal)

When a buyer finally purchases your item:

  1. Locate the item in the "For Sale" tab.
  2. Click the blue Mark Sold button on the right side of the row.
  3. A dialog box will pop up. The system assumes you sold it for the exact Asking Price, but you can immediately type in the actual final negotiated cash price if the buyer successfully haggled you down.
  4. Click Confirm.

The item is instantly removed from the "For Sale" tab. Its bright orange badge turns into a dark, permanent "Sold" badge, and the cash value is immediately added to your "Total Revenue" tracker at the top of the screen!

The "Sold" Tab (Your Ledger)

Click the "Sold" tab to see your permanent financial ledger. It lists all liquidated items, displaying exactly how much cash was negotiated and the precise date and time of the sale.

Because the items remain safely attached to your household database, you retain this historical record of the sale indefinitely!

The "Inbox" Tab (Buyer Inquiries)

When you share a public link to your sale, interested buyers can send you a secure message regarding specific items. These messages appear here in your Inbox tab!

  • Secure Contact: Buyers fill out a form (Name, Email, Message) without ever seeing your personal email address.
  • New Message Alerts: A red notification badge will appear on the Inbox tab when you have unread inquiries.
  • Reply via Email: Click the reply button on any message to automatically open your device's default email client, pre-filled with the buyer's contact info so you can securely arrange a pickup time and payment.

4. Sharing Your Sale Publicly

Want to advertise your ongoing sale to local buyers, neighborhood Facebook groups, or friends? You can generate a custom, secure Public Link to show off your active inventory without forcing anyone to log in.

  1. On the Garage Sale Hub dashboard, click the Share Sale button located in the top right corner.
  2. In the modal that appears, toggle on Enable Public Link.
  3. Click the Copy button to grab your unique stowfindsell.com/p/sale/... URL to paste anywhere!

Privacy & Visibility Controls

Your privacy is paramount. Unauthenticated visitors using your public link can ONLY see items that you have explicitly marked as "For Sale" or "Sold". Your primary inventory remains completely hidden and secure.

Furthermore, within the "Share Sale" modal, you have granular control over exactly what metadata the public is allowed to see. You can toggle the visibility of:

  • Show Prices: Display or hide your Asking Prices.
  • Show Descriptions: Display or hide your detailed text notes for the item.
  • Show Categories: Display or hide the category badges.
  • Show Tags: Display or hide custom hashtags.

(Note: The Item's Name and its primary Photo are always visible to the public so they know what they are looking at!)

When a potential buyer views your public sale link, they can click the I'm interested! button on any item. This opens a secure Contact Seller form.

Please note: When a buyer submits this form (Name, Email, Message), the inquiry is sent directly to the Inbox tab on your Garage Sale Hub. Your personal email address is never exposed to the public; instead, you get to review the inquiry securely inside the StowFindSell dashboard and choose whether to reply.
