Managing Rooms, Bins & Boxes (Locations)
In StowFindSell, we use the term Location (sometimes called a Node) to describe any physical place where an item can be stored. This allows you to recreate your entire home digitally, exactly as it exists in the real world.
A Location can be as large as your "Master Bedroom" or as small as a specific "Green Shoe Box" sitting on a shelf.
Creating a Location Hierarchy (Nesting)
The true power of StowFindSell is its ability to nest Locations inside one another to create a pinpoint-accurate map of your belongings.
When you click the large green + button in the bottom right corner and select Add Box/Room, you will see a dropdown field asking for a Parent Location.
Here is an example of a perfectly organized hierarchy:
- You create a top-level Room: Garage (Parent Location is left blank).
- You create a storage unit and set "Garage" as its parent: Metal Shelf 1.
- You create a container and set "Metal Shelf 1" as its parent: Blue Plastic Bin A.
Now, when you assign an Item (like a "Camping Tent") to the "Blue Plastic Bin A", the system knows exactly where to find it.
Quick Access Pinning
By default, your main Home Dashboard displays a grid of your topmost Locations (usually your physical Rooms).
If you are actively organizing a specific subset of containers—like a series of "Holiday Decoration Boxes" deep in your attic—you can Pin them.
Pinned locations bypass the standard grid and appear in a prominent "Quick Access" scrolling carousel at the very top of your Dashboard, regardless of how deeply nested they are in your home's hierarchy.
To pin a Location:
- Navigate to the specific Location.
- Look at the top right corner of the Location's header image.
- Click the Pin icon.
Location Analytics
When you open a specific Location page (e.g., clicking into "Garage"), the system calculates real-time analytics for everything stored inside that specific location area, including everything stored inside its child boxes.
Directly under the Location's name, you will see three stats:
- Total Items Content: The exact number of physical objects residing inside.
- High-Value Alert: How many items inside are individually valued over your household's expensive threshold.
- Completeness Warning: Items that are flagged because they are missing critical receipts, warranty documentation, or photos.
Printing QR Code Labels
StowFindSell bridges the digital and physical worlds. You can generate printable QR code stickers for your physical boxes so you never have to guess what is inside them again.
To print multiple labels at once:
- Click your Profile initials in the top right corner.
- Select Print QR Codes.
- Use the search bar to locate the specific plastic bins or boxes you are packing. Use the checkboxes to select them.
- The right side of the screen generates a live grid of high-resolution QR codes.
- Click Print Selected.
How it works: Use a standard desktop printer and sticky label paper. Slap the generated QR code sticker onto the outside of the physical "Blue Plastic Bin A".
Months later, if you are looking for an item, simply open your mobile phone's standard camera app and point it at the sticker on the outside of the box. Your phone will instantly launch the StowFindSell app and display a list and photos of everything hidden inside that specific box without you ever needing to unseal it!
